Xiaonan Zhang, an Assistant Professor in the FSU Department of Computer Science, has been awarded a new NSF grant titled “Collaborative Research: CISE MSI: RDP: CPS: Enhancing Efficiency and Sustainability in Electric Transportation and Power Systems through Interaction-Aware Management”.  The project aims to develop a cutting-edge management framework designed to enhance the efficiency and sustainability of two critical yet independently managed systems: electric vehicle (EV) transportation and the power grid. This innovative approach is expected to provide significant benefits to both EV drivers and power-grid operators by reducing costs and promoting sustainability across both domains. Beyond its technical objectives, the project is committed to broader societal impacts, including capacity-building, education, and outreach initiatives that will encourage the participation of underrepresented minorities in the rapidly growing EV-related workforce. This collaborative effort brings together researchers from Central State University, University of Tennessee at Chattanooga, and FSU, with a total funding size of $600,000. FSU’s share of the grant is $200,000.
