Topics for Today

• Review of HW1, homework on creation of a UML use-case diagram from a textual description.
• Point out that it and the supporting materials have been updated since the first class meeting.
• Last 3 slides or Fast Forward to Use Case Diagrams
• Extracting actors and use cases from a textual description (Powerpoint) -- Emphasize textual analysis. Note and correct some detail errors diagrams, then move on to correct notation in next set of slides
• Structuring Use Case Diagrams (Powerpoint), IBM notes including explanation of how to use includes, extends, etc. associations in a use case diagram -- Cover correct use of the "include", "extend", and "inherit" association links
• Demonstrate the UML tools and BoUML.

Things for You to Do

• Read Chapter 1 of the text, and prepare to take quiz Q1 Friday.
• Read the notes from the last class, Fast Forward to Use Case Diagrams.
• Start work on HW1.
• Install one of the UML tools on your computer, and play with it.
• Move on to reading the section on use cases in Chapter 5, then Chapters 2 and 4. (Skip Chapter 3 for now.)
