COP 4610: Operating Systems & Concurrent Programming |
Spring 2015 |
CAUTION:
I was asked it I could provide copies of past examinations from this course, as examples. I do not have any copies of recent examinations to post, as they were taught by a different instructor who did not agree to allow them to be posted.
The following are copies chapter review quizzes and exams given in two offerings of this course several years back, which I taught using a different textbook. We have not used these quizzes this term, and you should not assume that your midterm and final exams will look like these. Besides the difference in textbooks, these were administered in a classroom, on paper, while your examinations will be administered online in Blackboard. In addition, the term from which these exams are taken we put much higher weight on the final examination (which was 2 hours long) and less weight on the midterm examinations (which were 50 minutes long). In the current term we will put more weight on the midterms (which will each be 2 hours long). So, expect your midterm exams to have about twice as many questions as these. Your midterms will include some long-answer ("essay") questions, like these, but the final will be entirely machine-graded.
Despite all these differences, both books cover pretty much the same body of knowledge. So, looking at these exams may be of some value. In addition to writing some new questions (based on both your book this term and our assignments to date) I may elect to reuse some questions from these to complement the quiz questions from out present book when I make up the midterm and final examinations for this term.
