• string.txt -- illustrating quoting rules, and backslash usage
• file.txt -- Script that checks to see if the first command line argument is a file or directory, and whether it is readable/writable/executable
• grades.txt -- Calculating letter grade from a test score (in-class examples)

  • count.txt -- Script that uses a counter. In it, you are asked to type as many numbers as you like, ending with 0. The script will calculate and print out a count of how many negative numbers you entered
  • expressions.txt -- a script that illustrates several uses of the "expr" command (along with command substitution syntax), including arithmetic and lexicographic comparisons
