Humor and inspiration are concepts beyond the reach of science, as we know it today. Don't get me wrong, science and mathematics can inspire us, and bad or trivial science can be quite humorous. What I mean here is that what we find inspirational or humorous is probably beyond science to explain. Suffice it to say that what makes a person feel inspiration and humor offers a window into their humanity. I give here just a couple of glimpses into me.
I have refrained from getting into the science of others I find inspirational - but if I had to choose one person's work, it would probably be Oliver Sachs. His Neurologists Notebook series in the New Yorker deserves a Nobel prize.
