Learning objectives

After this class, you should be able to:

1. Express a sum as a recurrence.
2. Solve the recurrence obtained above, using, for example, the repertoire method.
3. Formulate a recurrence as a sum, using the idea of multiplying by a summation factor.
4. Compute the above sum, to solve the recurrence.
